 I am so tired of the prophets of doom and gloom. I’m just as tired of the run-away ‘Rapturists.’ It short changes the work of the Cross. Jesus died a terrible death to give us Victory. He said that His Church would demolish the gates of Hell. Where did He say that? Matthew 16:18,19. This is just one of the many Scriptures that we pass over with ‘O, that just means so and so…..’ when it means far more than that when we take a closer look.

 The ongoing truth which the Spirit brings is hidden in plain sight, in the Word, but our spiritual eyes are often closed to it. Mostly because we have our end time truth all sorted out and we don’t want to know any different. If we took time to meditate on the Word and asked the Holy Spirit to show us what it means, we may be surprised with what He reveals.

Other Scriptures we tend to pass over are Ephesians 4:11-13 which tells us that Jesus has set some ministries in the Church to bring it “to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.” Also Ephesians 5:27 that tells us that Christ’s Church is going to be “a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that it should be holy and without blemish.” Surely not! That must mean after Jesus comes back. Jesus will have not more power or authority when He returns, than what He already has. He has accomplished there everything that is needed to bring in the Kingdom. It has to be laid hold of and manifested by the Church. The whole creation is waiting for 'revealing of the sons of God'. (Romans 8:19) That is when the Church will rise up into all that Jesus has accomplished.

The truth is encapsulated in the Types of Israel – the pattern nation. They show that the people of God, having been set free through the blood of the Passover lamb, eventually becoming a glorious, victorious Army which possesses its inheritance [The Promised Land] and establishes the Kingdom. Until they understood who they were and what they were redeemed to do, they wandered in the wilderness. That’s where the Church is now!

The inheritance of the spiritual descendants of Abraham is the Earth. [Romans 4:13] We are redeemed to reclaim it for God. Then the Kingdom will come 'on Earth as it is in Heaven'. That is our Promised Land. This involves spiritual warfare in Jesus’ Name; but the victory is assured. Jesus has done everything necessary in order for the Church to rise up and enforce the victory He has won.  One generation will; and that generation is already born into the Earth. How do I know that? By studying the Types. It’s all there if we care to look and study it through.

THE SEED OF THE WOMAN

THE SEED OF THE WOMAN.  [Genesis 3:15]

In this blog I shall endeavour to throw light on:-

1.       Why there is an unprecedented number of abortions in this day and age.

2.       Who is the ‘Seed of the Woman’ who will crush the Serpent’s head.

These two subjects may seem to have nothing in common; yet there is a very definite link.

The ‘right’ to abortion is accepted as part of our modern day ‘civilized’ society. A lot of people don’t like it; Christians fight it; proponents consider it ‘progressive’ to allow a woman to have control over her reproductive system all in the interests of ‘choice.’

An unplanned pregnancy can be devastating to some women who may need a lot of support to continue with the pregnancy and may be tempted to think of abortion as the easy way out. Most are unprepared for the life time after effects that abortion can bring. Some States allow for late term abortion, which is just too horrible to describe.

There is choice in these days when contraception is readily available. Those who grieve over a miscarriage or a regretted abortion may find comfort in knowing that that little life is not lost to God. Many accounts of experiences in the afterlife reveal that the baby is cared for and brought up in heaven and will be reunited to family.

The grief of bereaved mothers is captured in a prophecy by Jeremiah

“A voice was heard in Ramah,

Rachel weeping for her children

Lamentation, weeping, and great mourning,                                                                           

Rachel weeping for her children,

Refusing to be comforted,

Because they were no more.” Jeremiah 31:15.

This Scripture is quoted in Matthew and refers there to what is called ‘The slaughter of the innocents’ about the time of the birth of Jesus.  Roman soldiers were ordered by King Herod to kill all the male children in and around Bethlehem when he heard that a new king was about to be born there. Matthew 2:16,17. This event has an Old Testament counterpart in Exodus 1. About the time when Moses the Deliverer of Israel was to be born there was another ‘slaughter of the innocents’ as there is in this day at the end of this Age.

The Serpent has never forgotten that there is a Child to be born – a Deliverer, who is destined to crush his head. He knows when such a deliverer is about to be born and moves to slaughter the innocents and thus put off his demise.  Since the event known as ‘The Fall,’ he has been ‘the god of this age’ [2 Cor. 4:4] and the whole world lies under his influence. [1 John 5:19]. He is jealous over his control of this world and its inhabitants; no potential Deliverer can be allowed to live. He knows that another Child is about to be born destined to end his rule, - the Child of Revelation 12, The Seed of the Woman, and so he moves to slaughter the innocents again.

In Revelation 12 we see the woman travailing to give birth with the Dragon waiting to devour the Child, as he always has been. But isn’t this Child Jesus?  you will no doubt ask. This is what has always been taught. Actually it is not the complete answer. It is certainly true that without Jesus there is no redemption possible. Without Him we are eternally lost. It is also true that ‘the whole world [still] lies under the sway of the wicked one.’ 1 John 5:19. We shall have to look further for the full answer as to the identity of the Child. It is undoubtedly is the Seed of the Woman promised in Genesis 3:15.                                                                         

The promised Seed was to come through Abraham. Abraham had physical Seed through Isaac and spiritual Seed through Jesus. Israel, the physical Seed, God calls ‘My son, My firstborn’. [Exodus 4:22]. This many-membered nation, all who were born of Isaac, were considered to be the Son of God. They were redeemed from bondage in Egypt under Pharaoh, to bring down the enemy and possess the Land of their inheritance – the Promised Land. It remained for one generation of this Son, a generation of Overcomers under Joshua, to come out of the wilderness and conquer the enemy.  Likewise, the spiritual Seed -  Jesus and His Church- are considered to be One Seed.,

Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, ‘And to seeds,’ as of many, bur as of one, ‘And to your Seed,’ who is Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:16

And if you are Christ’s then you are Abraham’s Seed and heirs according to the promise. Galatians 3:29

Note, the Seed is One though many. This Seed is the Son of God. Christ and His Church cannot be separated.

As in Israel, one generation of Abraham’s Seed finally came out of the wilderness and conquered the enemy; even so one generation of the Church is destined to break the enemy’s hold on planet Earth –a generation of Overcomers under Jesus. This end time generation enters into all that the Cross has achieved. This is the Child of Revelation 12. Since the Fall, the ‘Woman’ – the people of faith of all ages, has been travailing to bring forth the promised Seed. Sarah is a type of this Woman. She was made beautiful and fruitful in her old age. After many years of waiting, when it all seemed impossible, she brought forth the promised Seed. Likewise the coming great revival will renew the Church and enable her to produce the Overcomers.

Israel brought forth Messiah Who accomplished all the work of Redemption and Commissioned His Church to make all the Nations His disciples.  It remains for this redemption to be manifested in the Earth. All of creation is waiting for this. [Romans 8:19-21]

Back to Revelation 12. The Child is ‘caught up to the throne;’ - the Overcomers rise up in Kingdom authority. Thus begins a war in the heavenlies or spiritual realm. The Old Testament type of this is Joshua and the army of Israel with the hosts of heaven at Jericho[Joshua 6]. The war in the heavenlies results in satan being cast down from the place of authority which he has been occupying illegally since the Cross. He has kept his position only through deceit and accusation. [Note, it is a ‘they’ who overcomes the Dragon -One but many] The Child is the end time Overcomers – the long awaited Seed. That is why the devil is conducting an end time slaughter of innocents, endeavouring to avoid the battle. However, the Seed of the Woman. backed by the hosts of Heaven. is victorious and the cry goes up –

“Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of the brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.”  Revelation 12:10,11

“…the mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations but now has been revealed….which is CHRIST IN YOU, THE HOPE OF GLORY.” Colossians 1:26,27

THE RAPTURE RUMOUR

The following is from my new book "Endtime Insights - The Cloud Moves on", soon to be published. As it could be a bit long for a blog, I will do it in two or three parts.

          There’s a rumour of a “Rapture” about to happen any minute now. The trumpet will sound and all the Christians, those alive and the resurrected dead in Christ, will be whisked away to the bliss of Heaven, and the world will degenerate into utter Godlessness under an antichrist.

 

          Now I confess that the thought of an imminent Rapture has a great deal of appeal. Who wouldn’t want to go to Heaven and leave this mess behind with all of its pain and uncertainty, its injustice? A lot of other people think so too. Millions of dollars are made on DVDs, TV series and books which feed the rumour, telling of the horrors that await those “left behind.”

 

          At the turn of the century as the new millennium approached, there was a fever of excitement. We were told by popular tele-evangelists that there was only a “sliver of time” left before it would all happen. As millions suddenly disappeared, planes, trains and cars would go haywire and crash if the driver happened to be a Christian. Then all those raptured would enjoy a big celebration in Heaven while the people of the world, including all their unsaved loved ones would serve the antichrist on Earth or else!

 

          I bought it all once – for about ten years. I thought it was the most exciting thing that could ever happen and of course, like all Christians, I wanted to see Jesus. I even dreamed about it and when I read that Enoch was raptured by faith (Hebrews 11:5), I wondered how could one work up enough faith to be raptured. Here I come Lord! I had much to learn. There were some things that didn’t quite gel in this teaching, like Revelation 4:1 being the Rapture of the Church, but after all I was only a comparatively new Christian and others must know better than I.

 

          Then I heard a tape by a favourite teacher of the Word called Bob Mumford. He said that he had all his charts drawn up – Antichrist, Rapture, Marriage Supper of the Lamb etc, he had it all worked out, then he had a shattering revelation after which he burned all his charts because he realised that it’s not going to happen like that.  I was intrigued and I wanted to know more. Bob didn’t elaborate, but I gathered it had a lot to do with the types of the Old Testament which was a favourite subject of mine, so I set myself to see what he had seen. It took some time, but the pieces began to fall into place and I saw that the Lord was taking the Church toward a destination in the Earth. I saw that the glory of the Lord filling the Earth was dependant on the people of God possessing the Promised Land. (Numbers 14:21) I came to understand that this was about reclaiming the Earth for God - recovering our lost inheritance.

 

          I wrote a rather long manuscript of a parallel study of the three main Types but something wasn’t quite right towards the end. I was resorting to works. The Lord said “Learn more of My Grace.” When I had the revelation of the meaning of the rent veil and the finished work of Christ the last piece fell into place and I saw the whole picture.

I can now say unequivocally that there is NOT going to be a rapture at any minute now. Burn your charts, seek the Lord and ask the Holy Spirit to show you. Exciting things ARE about to happen even more exciting than a rapture. The Church is going to rise up in the power and glory of the risen Lord and bring in the Kingdom. Then the Lord will return to take up His throne.

          The prophetic picture of this great event is seen in Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem on that last Passover:- He descended from the Mt of Olives with His retinue of disciples plus others from the surrounding villages. The crowds in Jerusalem went out to meet Him because that’s the way a king was welcomed into a city. Then together they all escorted Him back into Jerusalem. Even so at the Second Coming, the Lord will return with ten thousands of His saints and “we who are alive and remain” shall be caught up together with the resurrected saints to go out to meet the King and escort Him back to the throne. That’s the Rapture of the Church – at the time of His Coming. When the Lord of Glory enters this Earth’s atmosphere, everything will come alive and Creation will be renewed. (Romans 8:19 – 23) Yes there is going to be great conflict ahead but we will be ready and we will win. Am I saying that we’re going to be here for the “Tribulation?” No! I’m saying that we’re going to be here for the Glory and the Victory.

 

          When it comes to end-times, there is a lot of talk or debate about whether there will be a “pre-trib” or “post-trib” Rapture, the main concern for some seems to be whether they will go through the anticipated Tribulation or not.  But I wonder if that is supposed to be the focus for the Christian. Should it not be rather “Have we finished the job Jesus gave us to do?”

 

“....make disciples of all the nations....teaching them to observe all things I have commanded you:”Matthew 28:19,20

 

          There are at least 50 nations in the world which are less than 5% Christian. The Chinese “Back to Jerusalem” movement is dedicated to doing all they can to finish the job, pledging their lives to it. Of them it could be said “....they loved not their lives to the death”

(Revelation 12:11) They believe that Jesus won’t come back until the Great Commission is completed. If all the Church was like minded, and if all the energy and resources that go on preaching an imminent Rapture, went into prayer for the nations and working together to evangelize them, we would be a lot closer to His coming.

           

          It is asserted that Jesus will rapture the Church out before the tribulation, because we are “not appointed to wrath” and it is true that those in Jesus do not come under the judgement of God for sin, but when God sent judgement upon Egypt, where were His people?  They were still in the land and God looked after them.  He didn’t have to evacuate them first in order to judge Egypt. In the judgement of Noah’s day, the people of God were kept safe in the Ark which is a type of Christ. It was the others who were “taken away” in judgement. Noah and his family came through the Flood and inherited the Earth – a very different Earth, cleansed by the Flood.

 

          It matters a great deal what we believe about end-times. God’s will is accomplished through His people. If we don’t have a vision for taking the Earth for God, then it won’t happen. Christians who believe in an imminent rapture tend to opt out of involvement in the world. In the meanwhile satan is having a heyday. Abortion, same sex marriage, euthanasia drugs, lawlessness, all kinds of godlessness is on the increase with very little opposition from the Church. Preachers need to be inspiring their congregations to stand up and be counted and make a difference. This is God’s world and Jesus said “Occupy till I come.” We are assured of victory if only we will fight. This is a battle which has to be fought on many fronts. Rapture-at-any-moment makes for popular exciting teaching, but is it right?  I don’t think so. Rather it tends to immobilize the Church. We are supposed to be the Army of God. We are supposed to wage spiritual warfare for the nations and also to stand up for the principles of the kingdom here in the Earth.

 

          It is often said that nothing remains to happen before Jesus comes again. Here are a few things that haven’t happened yet:-

         

          * The Church has to complete the Great Commission.(Matthew 28:18-20). This is on the basis of the fact that all authority in Heaven and Earth has been given to Jesus.That authority has been delegated to the Church to exercise in His Name to bring down the strongholds of the enemy and to set the Earth free.

 

          * Elijah must come first and restore all things. (Read Matthew 17 1-13) This is not a literal return of the Prophet Elijah, but the Spirit that rested upon Elijah coming upon the end time Church to challenge the powers of darkness and turn the world back to God. John’s arrival on the stage of history was a partial fulfilment of this prophecy. “Elijah” prepares the way for the 2^nd Coming of Christ just as the Spirit of Elijah resting on John prepared the way for His 1^st coming. According to Acts 3:21, the heavens must retain Jesus until the time of the restoration of all things. I have written about Elijah more fully in “The Other Bible Code.”

 

          * The Church must rise “to the unity of the faith and the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.” (Ephesians 4:13) and become “a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing …holy and without blemish” (Ephesians 5:27) The Word says that it will. It certainly hasn’t happened yet. But it will!

 

          * The Church has to demolish the gates of Hell. Jesus said:

          “I will build My church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”

          (Matthew 16:18)

 

          Our understanding of this Scripture in the past has been that the Church will stand against any attack of the enemy. We are the ones valiantly holding the fort till Jesus comes. However in warfare do gates attack or are they attacked? Our position has usually been defensive when we should be on the offensive. We are here to bring down the strongholds of the enemy and the gates of hell will not stand against us. Jesus is building a victorious Church which will obliterate hell’s intrusion into the Earth. This is in line with the promise God made to Abraham

          “..thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies.”  Genesis 22:17 KJV

 

          Abraham’s seed after the natural did just that. The journey to and possession of the Promised Land is a type or prophetic picture of the Church enforcing Christ’s victory over satan and establishing the Kingdom in the Earth.

          So the Word shows that there is much to happen yet before the return of Christ; however it will be a quick work once we get the vision.“The ploughman shall overtake the reaper.” (Amos 9:13) This will be our finest hour!

           Studying the Types show that they lead to Victory and Glory for the Church and to a great harvest. They don’t accommodate a runaway Church. Moreover the Word says that all things in heaven and earth have been reconciled to God by the blood of the Cross of Christ. (Colossians 1:19,20) This has yet to be brought into manifestation.

 

           Some people have endeavoured to fit the Rapture into the Types, e.g. Joshua taking the people into the Promised Land is a picture of Jesus taking the raptured saints into Heaven etc: But to arrive at the true meaning of a Type we have to look carefully at what was being portrayed. Going into the Promised Land involved warfare and overcoming the enemy. Is that how we get into Heaven? The Promised Land, as I’ve shown elsewhere is not a picture of Heaven. We don’t have to fight to get in there. It is a picture of the Earth which we have to possess for the Kingdom. That is what we have to fight for; that is what the Great Commission is all about – making all the nations Jesus disciples.

 

          The Types are to be fulfilled in the Church in the Earth. It is regrettable to say the least that people accept the Rapture- at -any -moment teaching without question and then fit all other end time teaching around it. It has become a “sacred cow” not open to question. This kind of teaching closes people’s minds to what the Spirit is trying to show the churches. The more it is promoted, the longer it will be before Jesus returns.

 

          In God’s plan for the Church as shown in the Types, the Church is still on the wrong side of Jordan. The ministries in the Church should be preparing the saints to be warriors with a vision to take the Land for God, not trying to make them more comfortable in the wilderness as so many preachers and teachers are doing. Out in the wilderness the people complained and grumbled because things weren’t just as they wanted them to be. e.g. they complained about the daily diet of manna, but if they’d just gotten on with the assignment they’d been given, they could have been feeding on milk and honey and all the fat of the Land. If we “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness” i.e. get on with our assignment of bringing in the Kingdom, then all the things we have prayed and longed for and more, will be ours.

The Journey to the Promised Land is a map showing how to recover our Inheritance which was lost in Adam but regained in Christ.  What is that inheritance?

“For the promise that he would be heir of the world was not to Abraham or his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.”  Romans 4:13 [emphasis added]

“And if you are Christ’s then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”

Galatians 3:29

In the nation of Israel, God set the pattern of Restoration.  Israel is the Demonstration Nation. 

God’s purposes are :-

Demonstrated in Israel

Fulfilled in Christ

Manifested through the Church.

The Feasts of Israel commemorated the great events of the Journey and the recovery of Israel’s inheritance promised to them through Abraham.

PASSOVER [Passover, Unleavened Bread, Firstfruits]  is about  coming out of Egypt

PENTECOST  Is about equipping the people of God to fulfil their Commission

TABERNACLES  [Trumpets, Day of Atonement, Tabernacles] is about that Commission being accomplished

PASSOVER     The Nation comes out of Egypt in infancy

“When Israel was a child I loved him, and out of Egypt I called My son.” Hosea 11:1

Redeemed by the blood of a lamb   Exodus 12    Passover

Sanctified [declared to be holy]    Exodus 13       Unleavened Bread

Baptised “in the cloud and in the sea” [1 Corinthians 10:2]     Exodus 14   Firstfruits

Their Commission  Possess their inheritance and establish “a kingdom of priests, a holy nation”

PENTECOST   The Nation equipped to fulfil their Commission

At Mt Sinai God came down in fire and gave the Law and the Tabernacle.   Exodus 19..........

After 40 years the nation came out of the wilderness, crossed Jordan and began to destroy the strongholds of the enemy.

TABERNACLES     The Nation completes their Commission

The great climax of Israel’s history was the dedication of the Temple by King Solomon, son of David.  The enemy had been subdued and the Land possessed.  The Kingdom had been established and the son of David sat on the throne.  The Glory of God filled the Temple.  The final harvest was in and the Feast of Tabernacles was celebrated.  The Golden Age had begun.

After this great time of peace and prosperity, the nation went into decline, and here the Type breaks down as all types do.  They are only “shadows” of the reality which is in Christ. But a pattern had been established which God Himself followed in the preparation of Jesus for ministry and in restoring the Church.

JESUS’ PREPARATION FOR MINISTRY

True to the type, Jesus was brought out of Egypt in infancy. 

“When he arose, he took the young Child and His mother by night and departed for Egypt.  And was there until the death of Herod, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying “Out of Egypt I called My Son.” Hosea 11:1

Like all Jewish firstborn males, Jesus was sanctified [dedicated to the Lord as an infant] according to Exodus 13:2.  As He was about to begin His ministry, He was set apart in baptism  at the Jordan

Jesus was  equipped to fulfil His Commission  by the descent of the Holy Spirit upon Him. This was His Pentecost.

His Commission:-

“For this purpose was the Son of God manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.” [1John 3:8].

And ultimately:-

“To restore the earth.”  [Isaiah 49:8]

Restoration comes as the works of the devil are destroyed.

After forty days in the wilderness  overcoming the temptations of satan,  Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit and began to  destroy the works of the devil.  After ministering for three and a half years Jesus then went to the Cross to make a way for us to begin the Journey  into Restoration when the whole Earth will be filled with the Glory of the Lord according to God’s promise long ago.

“But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the Glory of the Lord.”  Numbers 14:21

TABERNACLES   will be celebrated when Jesus sits on the throne of the Earth, then Jesus, Israel,  and the Church will celebrate the Feast together.
